Some companies also require their data entry clerks to have at least a working, albeit basic knowledge of several Microsoft Office programs – in particular, Microsoft Excel.

Aside from these two skills, high-speed and consistent Internet connection, as well as a computer that will enable you to listen to audio recordings, is a must-have if you want to be in this field. It is also worth mentioning that if you want a typing job that pays better, you should be on the lookout for postings that call for applicants with knowledge in a specific subject, such as medicine. There are data entry jobs that are considered scams. The best thing to do is to email the contact person listed on the website and ask as many questions as possible. If the contact

person gets back to you with convincing answers, don’t jump and accept the job right away. You may also research the company or ask someone you know if they’ve heard of the company that you have found on the web.
